Product Codes

Here's your secret decoder ring for ASI Standards

The majority of our Check Standards are coded as ElementMatrix-Concentration-Size (i.e. SMO-10-100; Sulfur in Mineral Oil, 10 mg/kg, 100 ml bottle).

The majority of our Custom Calibration Standards are coded similarly, as ElementMatrixNumberofStandards-Ultra Low/Low/High Concentrations-Size (i.e. SRO6-H-200; Sulfur in Residual Oil, 6 standards per set with any standard concentration above 1.00 Wt% in 200 ml bottles.)

We differentiate Calibration Standards based on the concentration of the standards in the set. Any standard with a concentration of 1 mg/kg and below is considered Ultra Low, and will coded as UL. Any standard with a concentration greater than 1 mg/kg up to 1.00 Wt% is considered Low, and will be coded as L. Any standard with a concentration greater than 1.00 Wt% is considered High, and will be coded as H.

Multi-element standards are coded based on the number of standards and elements in the set. We recommend lubricating oil as the matrix for multi-element standards to help with stability. Can you guess what Elements in Lubricating Oil Calibration Standards, 7 standards per set, 5 elements per standard in 100 ml bottles would be? ELO7-5E-100! ELO (Elements in Lubricating Oil)7(7 standards) - 5E(5 elements)-100(100 ml bottle). Note that this product code will be used for any set of 5 elements.

We will also have a deep dive blog post on ASI Standards product codes in the near future.
